Chief Global Investment Strategist, Ned Davis Research
Timothy W. Hayes, CMT, is NDR’s Chief Global Investment Strategist. He has been with the firm since 1986. Tim directs NDRG’s global asset allocation services, develops strategy and major investment themes, and establishes NDRG’s weightings for global asset allocation, presenting his views on the cyclical and secular outlook globally. Tim oversees NDRG’s monthly Investment Strategy, covering global strategy and allocation, and his timely market commentaries and studies are featured in Global Strategy publications, which focus on global allocation and the most significant global developments.
Chairman, Alan Steel Asset Management
Alan Steel is Chairman of Alan Steel Asset Management Investment (ASAM) which he founded in 1975 in Linlithgow. The company is completely independent, owned by the directors, employs 43 and looks after for clients £1.3 billion. All on an “advisory partnership” with clients. ASAM was the first Scottish-based IFA to win the Money Marketing UK’s Best Investment IFA Award, and the first business to win it three times. Alan is a life-long learner, a well-known cynic of the UK financial services industry, and the first to predict the demise of Equitable Life (April 1997), the end of the success of With Profits from the late 1980s, and has been quoted on BBC Money Box as a passionate critic of RDR and Pensions Freedom. Over the last thirty years Alan has written columns in National Newspapers for The Scotsman, Glasgow Herald, Mail on Sunday, and both the Daily and Sunday Telegraph. In his column of 23rd February 2009 he laid out the seven reasons why we were on the brink of a major Equity Bull Market .
Chief Investment Officer, The Adviser Centre
Peter began his career at Holden Meehan, an independent wealth manager, in 1989. He joined Forsyth Partners in 1994 as a senior mutual fund analyst and was appointed Chief Investment Officer in 2000. He was responsible for the management of traditional and alternative multi asset funds, with assets at their peak in excess of £1.5 billion. He joined OBSR in 2008 and was responsible for establishing the firm’s fund advisory business as well as continuing to conduct manager research. As Investment Director, he worked closely with Head of Investment Consultancy, Gill Hutchison, and they were responsible for the delivery of services to an array of different clients and were important influencers of fund flows in the UK. The Adviser Centre was launched in May 2014 whilst Peter was employed by City Financial. He transferred to Embark in October 2016, following the group’s acquisition of The Adviser Centre.
Senior International Strategist, Ned Davis Research
Hassan Malik, PhD, CFA, Senior International Strategist, is responsible for the firm’s coverage of European and emerging/frontier markets through the Europe Focus and Emerging Markets Focus publications as part of the Global Strategy team led by NDR Chief Global Investment Strategist, Tim Hayes. He is based in London. Prior to joining NDR, Hassan advised macro and equity long/short hedge funds on emerging market investments at research firm Greenmantle, LLC. He previously spent several years working in Moscow for Troika Dialog, Russia’s largest investment bank. He began his career in equity research at J.P. Morgan in New York, focusing on transport and marine oil services companies in North America and Europe. Hassan is a financial historian, and earned his AB with honors at the University of Chicago and his AM and PhD at Harvard University
